It’s distinctive
Tanzanite’s rich indigo-blue and violet colour make it an unusual and striking stone that catches the eye, making it the perfect gift for somebody who approaches life differently.
It shows more than one colour
Naturally-occurring tanzanite is trichroic, which means that it shows three different colours depending on the angle that it is viewed. However, when it is heated it becomes dichroic—showing two colours; indigo-blue and violet. The colours can also differ under different lighting, making it a dynamic and interesting stone to look at.
It’s rare
Tanzanite’s name comes from the country where it is found: Tanzania. In fact, it is only found in a very small area near Mount Kilimanjaro, making it one of the rarest and most desirable stones on the planet.
It’s slowly disappearing
Although recent research shows that the tanzanite deposits in Tanzania will still be producing tanzanite for years to come, the fact remains that tanzanite is a finite natural resource that only comes from one source.
Nobody knows for sure exactly how much tanzanite remains in Tanzania, making the stone even more valuable.
It has a unique meaning
